  • My first day at school and at work…

My first day at school and at work…

Tell us about your first day at something — school, work, as a parent, etc.

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…

Well I’m not a parent right now and don’t plan on being one anytime soon, but if time and life exists I’d love to have at least one child…!

Well I can share with you two instances,

One being the very first day I started school. I remember it was a Monday and my mother and father drove me to my school where I saw children crying as it was the orientation day and as parents separated from their children they walked back to the school gate with tears streaming down their cheeks, screaming “mumma/papa” whoever they were close with,

    But me,

    I was completely silent and wished them goodbye too, as I sat on my seat in an empty classroom because many skipped the first day as the children began crying as they came near the school gate;

All in it was a good day, we had fun, learnt new things and that was it for the day, around 12 it was our time to go back home, and I remember tears in my Mother’s eyes as she came to take me back to home and i was happy to see her as we went back home…

    Another instance is first day at work…;

It was the middle of August and my father told me to swing by work, to drop off something that they forgot home, and as I arrived at the workplace I greeted him and gave him a file that he forgot, and as I was about to leave he asked me about work..?

And I wanted to know what he meant,

He said Point blank that he wanted me to continue our family business and also study as I got time to which I told him that either it will be work or studies because industrial work requires a strong backbone and working long tireless hours which in fact affect the other 16 hours of your life making you extremely tired and stressed about the next day…

And as I started work I fought a lot with him with myself too, because all of the studies I perused came to a halt and all of my relationships built came to a standstill, because I hadn’t earned anything yet and I was given an ultimatum that they won’t be spending any more money on my studies and I have to work there…

And after learning that a piece of my feelings began to die for my father each day,

But this day that my father is no longer among us I believe that it was the best thing to happen because we bonded over things that made us similar and I got to spend more time with him during his final years with them…

    A win-win for the both of us…

Didn’t want to take it to such a negative point but life happens…

Well happy weekend to those who have the days off and enjoy your life to the fullest, hug your kids and tell them you love them…

    Cheers 🥂

  • To experiences that shape us…

    To experiences that shape us…

Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech?

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…

    Yes, I’ve had a few opportunities to present myself on stage with and without a group;

I presented a speech all alone twice and I had all of the fear before it, legs feeling like jelly, those eyes staring at me like I owe them something, but once in my zone I performed what I had to it was a speech about a religious leader the topic that I picked way back…

    Another one was a rather small group that worked in an informal setting a few strangers and a piece of information that we shared and debated it to come to a standard conclusion,;

A mere two person discussion turned into a few people taking their side and my side, it was a topic that has such a deep belief that we all had views on it “God’s existence and his overlooking those who were unfortunate…”

And after the heat of discussion subsided we all had tea and called it a night as we walked away a bit better person, by learning someone’s side and some facts that even changed our beliefs…

There were instances that we had musical performances during schooling too, which were often in groups because they shifted the focus and stress from a single child to the group, which was fun and enjoyable even for the audience because they were a part of us too as they enjoyed it as much as us…

A few instances but they shaped a version that can be traced deviated from a standard path to what it is now expanding forever…

    To experiences like these that shape us for the better;

    Cheers 🥂

  • The stress associated after work…

    The stress associated after work…

What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…

The part of routine that I can avoid or skip would be the stress associated with work that constantly looms over my head…

    The constant pressure of preparing, of being active and on my toes has broken the foundation that I stand on;

Some days it feels like a break from it would be better,

But returning to it feels like a trap that I exited for a little while,

after seeing clear open skies I have to walk into the cage to be trapped yet again and work within these tubes that trap my existence within them for 10 hours daily…

    Cheers 🥂

Some laughters and life lessons worth hearing…

What podcasts are you listening to?

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…

Well there aren’t many podcasts that I’m in these days but there are a few that bless my ears…

    One of the podcasts that I used to listen to was “Violating community guidelines” by Sarah Schauer and Brittany Broski;

I know weird names but they complimented each other and the funny instances on their podcasts were so hilarious that I often laughed out while working making people think that I’ve gone crazy 🤪..

48 episodes discussing the trends on the social media and what went on during the year 2022 and the end of it,

Started in January of ‘22 ending in December of the same year, Ive found myself to go back to it year after year and boost my mood and give me laugh whenever life pins me down…

These days I’m invested in a podcast called Alan watts daily wisdom and yes they’re sharing the timeless teachings of the philosopher Alan watts through ai in his voice to all the world to listen and view too…

Started a month ago and 24 videos in gathering a whopping 108k followers as we speak (on yt) I’ve found it very helpful and informative by giving me insight to live this life better in ways that are often overlooked…

Hope you will find these worth your while…

    Cheers 🥂

  • Life saving advices to cut screen time…

Life saving advices to cut screen time…

How do you manage screen time for yourself?

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…

I’m pretty sure most of the world is suffering with this disease of a very long screen time, hooked on Instagram reels, YouTube shorts and videos, clips on TikTok and many more…

    Time seem to pass by so quickly when we are hooked on them that it feels unreal;

You started watching them at 10 at night and suddenly it’s 1:30 before you can see the time on the phone which was there all the time…

There are a lot of things that I use to achieve my goal of reducing screen time a few of them are->

    • Having a separate phone for doing writing without any distractions so that I can focus when otherwise I would find a way to stop writing and doom-scroll Instagram..
    • Tracking screen time on both my phones just to keep in touch with how much I used a single app and how much I need to cut back…
    • Presetting a timer on each app which I use a lot for example I set a timer for an hour on Instagram which is a lot less from 4-5 hours which used to happen without knowing…
    • Trying to avoid using phones for the first few hours I usually wake up and pen my ideas or any dreams that I had, which makes all of it interesting as it boosts my writing skills and also imaginative skills which help me remember what happened in my dream world…
    • And at last, I keep my phones a bit away from me like for charging away from me when I have free time so I’d have to walk to it to get it as I’m on my bed, which cuts the interest in getting up and grabbing it a bit more…

The last one is a big mind thing I know…😭😂

And I hope these works for someone in need…

    Cheers 🥂

  • The dreaded partition of 1947

    The dreaded partition of 1947

What historical event fascinates you the most?

    Hi…

I hope all of you are doing well…

There’s so much fascinating things that happened in our past that piques my interest, but if I were to point out a single one of them it would definitely be partition of my country INDIA…

Aftermath of that are still faced to this day, I’ve seen people without purpose and reason just existing on this side and on the other side too, sometimes all one does is question themselves are they born on the right side…?

Being from a family whose ancestors travelled from what is now Pakistan and settled here in India a sense of love and friendship still exists somewhere in this heart of ours, even though a lot of bloodshed happened in retaliation of which we also picked arms and caused harm of equal or more intensity…

Imagine leaving your friends, your ancestral home, your neighbours, your world behind and travelling beyond the line that was etched onto a map and now enforced by setting up boundaries and on it army personnel letting you pass only after checking…

It was chaos, there was so much loss and the place that my ancestors settled was covered in grass that was as high as knees length which contained mutilated body parts of the people who resided here before us who became victim of the violence that took place which uprooted them from the very place that they settled in to raise their young ones…

It was such a horrific incident that the survivors still tell us the tales of the horrors they saw from their very two eyes and all of it plays in their mind like it happened last night…

A truly horrible happening that shaped our very core, fascinating all those who decide to step into this thought of process and try to feel how they must have endured it all…

Cheers(to those who live to tell this tale to us)

  • Dinner with Loved Ones: Healing Through Memories

Dinner with Loved Ones: Healing Through Memories

    Daily writing prompt
If you could host a dinner and anyone you invite was sure to come, who would you invite?

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…

There was a family tradition that used to take place earlier in our family,
    we used to get together,
    have drinks,
    cook our own food,
    some it was store bought,
and it only required heating it a little bit..

    But,
it was like once maybe twice a year kind of tradition which used to take place at our residence,
but people used to come from faraway places,
    even from neighboring states,
    a day or two before…

    We used to have music,
and used to hit steps after getting a bit tipsy,
    but,
all in everyone enjoyed to their fullest,
there would be people sitting in the corner eating and drinking,
    talking to each other,
I would occasionally check on them and get them anything they needed,
and they’d thank me for it,
and the smile would stay on my face the entire night…

    Until,
    the latter half on ’23,
after battling for an entire year,
    and losing at the end,
the life was never the same,
all the point of get-together became a sham,
    there was no happiness whatsoever,
    all the sense,
essence of happiness or get-together was lost,
    as he left us…

    So,
I’d invite my now deceased father,
and revive the long-lost tradition of having the grand dinner once again,
Or teach us how we could continue without the loss of someone so dear to our hearts,
where all of us would get together,
    and enjoy to our fullest,
    once again,
    yet again…

    Cheers 🥂 (Happy weekend)

  • The Importance of Personal Keepsakes in Our Lives

The Importance of Personal Keepsakes in Our Lives

    Daily writing prompt
What personal belongings do you hold most dear?

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…

I’ve become a fan of the prompts these days,
they ask such intricate questions with such precise clear-cut words,
That it feels out of this world…

The reason it is so intricate for me is because,
we are often told not to brings things so close to our hearts,
that if one day you were to part (G0d forbid) from them,
the pain won’t ever be enough,
to take your life with itself…

    The adamant rule of,
(Dil par nahi lagaa’na or Dil par mat lena),
Don’t take it on your heart (translations),
has saved me G0d knows how many times,
and it will till the end of me…

    But,
    we are only human Afterall,
    aren’t we?
we take things to our heart,
    and when time comes,
it takes a piece of it (our heart),
    with it…

    Coming back to the prompt,
personal belongings that I hold dear,
    to myself,
there are many that I hold with care and utmost importance,
and they have a special place for me in my heart,
that make me want to continue,
whenever I feel like I’m falling off,
    or,
    about to…

One of them is a very old notebook,
    from my school days,
where all of this took birth,
    the essence of Waakiye,
    or the birth of it,
I often find myself scrolling through,
some of the raw emotions that I wrote,
when all of this wasn’t even in my wildest dreams,
    but,
The urge and a want to express what roamed this vast land of my mind,
    it was there forever,
and thanks to consistency of that child,
    and never stopping the scribbling,
he turned into a person that loves to write,
even if everything is going against,
    out of control…

    Another one,
    is a collection of photos,
    that keeps me grounded.

Reminds me of something that I did,
    of irreversible nature,
and the type of thing that haunts me some nights,
    but,
it gives me a proof of something that we all fear,

    “THE FEAR OF DEATH ITSELF…”

that thing ended a great suffering,
and a time that we don’t wish on an enemy or their family,
    But,
    we went through,
    endured all the sufferings,
and welcomed the future with open arms,
    even if we were broken,
    shattered from within,
    we still lived,
lived to see the next day,
    day after that,
and we will see this day too…

    To better days and,
things that remind you of who you were,
and what shape you shall take tomorrow,
    an unknown reality welcomes you…

    Cheers 🥂

    Love Waakiye 🤍

    In the distance I saw,
    I saw a being,
    a version of self,
in a place that I could have been…

Being on the support of others,
    not able,
notable of something like a madman,
    who lost it,
    lost it all…

    There wasn’t any other option,
    but,
    to stand tall,
be a shadow to those who were now dependent,
and be a support system for those,
who still don’t believe of the happening,
    and yet,
    here we are,
    enduring it yet again,
    this day,
    just like yesterday,
    like it happened yesterday,
like a film all of it plays,

    BUT,
    THERE WASN’T ANY OTHER OPTION…

  • Understanding Grief: A Personal Narrative of Unexpected Loss

    Daily writing prompt
Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

A PLUG THAT WILL BE PULLED TOMORROW…

    Hi,

I know this isn’t something to be said just like that,
but this is something that I wrote in my notes app when I heard this news…

A relative in my family met with an accident as they were driving to a place away from their home and they met with an accident,
the husband and their adopted child escaped with minor injuries,
    but,
the wife she fell and hit her head directly on the pavement,
    there was massive b;eeding,
    and in shock everyone was…

Then began the trips to hospitals,
they took her to the nearest one,
they gave the initial attention and recommended her to another one and another one to another…

After finding a good doctor(extremely rare),
he told us(un-officially) that we should take her to a hospital that’s nearest to their home,
    and they did,
because losing someone away from home isn’t something that noone would ever ask for…

    After keeping her in a hospital we got the news that she had a blood clot in her brain and some fragments of the bone of her skull punctured into the brain;
overnight surgery was the go to for having any hopes of saving her and after that she was put on ventilator for the rest of her time…

After being given a timeline of maybe a week, maybe a month, maybe an year,
just after 10 days we were told that there’s no more life in that body,
all the chaos that rolled down after that,
the fight with doctors and staff,
    removing the ventilator,
her breathing her last as the plug was pulled,
remaining was the empty bag of flesh and bones…

After bringing her lifeless body back home,
and preparing all the things necessary for the rituals,
all until the pyres were engulfed with flames and her remains reduced to ashes….

    Thats how life has been,
i haven’t been able to think straight,
after witnessing a second one this month…

    He||,
    literal He|| of a month…

    But,
    the world goes on…

We wish for her journey ahead to be an easy and blessed one

In a disarray we all were, until we were given the news, now like these flowers once full of life, they lay down, to be a part of the cycle once again, just like we all shall one day….
