A visit to old Delhi and maintaining a constant state of neutrality…!

You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do

Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

A Tuesday morning it is and it is warmer than usual because I was feeling sweaty in the blanket and I removed it somewhere along the night, as I woke up it was on the other side of the bed away from me at 7:10 am as I snoozed my first alarm…

Yesterday was a good one, there are many a things that I planned to accomplish like buying a ring for myself, few essential oils and diffusers from our home and in a single sweep I bought some jalebi(a type of funnel cake that is dipped in sugar syrup and served hot…)

I bought it from the shop that is very famous in old Delhi,

By the name of “Old famous jalebi wala…”

This is the shop

And if any one of us gets a chance to go to old Delhi we do buy like half a kilo maybe 750 grams, in three maybe four separate packets because the people around us love it and they request me that whenever I get a chance, I get some from them too, which I always do…!

(They were 700 Rs per kilo when I bought them last evening(09/02/2026)[DD/MM/YYYY], they also have samosa (fried savoury pastry) which are available in potato 🥔 and another one is pea 🫛 filled)

And the evening was perfect as we spent it coming to conclusions about life and plans ahead as we have to get the dates for my sister’s wedding too…!

Which means that I will be under a lot of pressure in the coming days but, it will be easy once the basic things are finalised and then we will be at some ease…!

Coming back to the prompt

First thing I do on receiving fantastic news

Anything I talk about ahead does not mean I’m a negative person, but—

Have you ever heard the paradox of happiness…?

It means when you place a huge chunk of importance on being constantly happy and when those expectations aren’t met; you feel extremely disappointed ultimately which leads to less happiness in your life;

That becomes the opposite of what you’re trying to achieve…

So,

As a person who has some happiness in their life, any amazing news no matter how big it is, it’s taken as something that is at a normal level…!

This isn’t out of spite but this mindset is born out of necessity and survival of myself as a human being because constantly shooting for happiness leads to falling more, so maintaining a net state of neutrality becomes the norm…!

When you stand at the neutral line, it feels easy to come back up once the life hits you with something bad likewise when things are going good it becomes easy to fall back down to the neutral line…

In a crux,

Having a constant neutral state is better than being either happy or sad all the time as either one of them has their own problems associated with each states…!

But let’s not forget that you seem antisocial when you constantly run on this state of neutrality, because it becomes a norm for you but not for others as your smile comes to halt mid talking or your sadness disappears when you come to term with it…!

Making you look like a psychopath…! 😂

Telling you this from the personal experience…!

🥲😅

Either way, this state works for me and I hope it was an interesting read…!

Cheers 🥂

Love Waakiye 🤍
