  • Who we were and who were shaped into…?

Who we were and who were shaped into…?

What’s a thing you wish schools actually taught?

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

Isn’t there something that all of us wanted to learn in school which we weren’t taught…?

I mean we were taught to have a good memory and throw up everything that we were taught all year on a piece of paper that held our fate of being successful and getting into the next standard…!

We were told to be obedient, follow rules and ultimately be responsible workers instead of being ourselves…!

And that is where I think Indian education system lacked and still lacks…!

We weren’t taught to be creative and have an explorative mindset,

Although we had options but we were forced by our parents and we did what our peers did and that made us feel compatible with them…!

    And guess what,

Where did most of them end up..?

    Working in a 9 to 5 or running a family business…!

A few were there who had a chance and escaped the scene and left India as soon as year 18-19 and struggled outside of India for their and their family’s betterment…!

Never were we taught to be who we are,

    Who we were,

    But,

    Being workers for a company,

    That we were taught…!

    I really wish we were taught and had a chance to explore who we were instead of sticking to a curriculum and being graded on that;

Because I see people stuck in a job or a life that they didn’t plan or want, they are still becoming that is what they know…!

If we were taught and learned what we were good at earlier we would have started to hone it earlier than shaving time from our regular life before and after work…!

It was never what we were taught or not,

It was about who we were before and who we were transformed into after going through the gears of the curriculum…!

Let’s not forget the song of the day

Nai Barghouti the name is enough

Even if you don’t listen to any other language I recommend this song…!

She is someone who gives me goosebumps because of the skill she possesses

Even though i don’t understand the language i feel myself very blessed to be able to hear her voice and the skill she has gradually honed over the years..!

A Palestinian singer who mixes Arabic and Palestinian with classical and jazz music…!

    Blessing to our ears

Happy Sunday to all of you..!

  • Advice we received from the people who are long gone…!

Advice we received from the people who are long gone…!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

    07/08/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…!

I hope all of you are doing well…!

The best piece of advice I received was from my late father,

And it was a damn good advice which I follow to this day,

    But,

I have tweaked it a bit according to how surroundings forced me to…!

    He advised me—

Son work hard and keep your head down, and when things feel like they are coming for your throat, never be afraid to punch them down and step up on them and grow up once again…!”

    Yes,

Well that is the crude translation of what he said because it was in Panjabi…!

He said this to me in portions all along his life and by the end he told me to never give up on life and be the person who looks after the family after he is no more here…!

And that is the duty he trusted on me and I am trying to fulfill it to my limits…!

Aren’t all of us trying to fulfill the duties and responsibilities that we were given by people who aren’t there anymore…!

Let’s not forget the song of the day…!

Talhah Yunus in the house baby

    Yes,

TY is one of the people who I followed in my teenagers and have been listening to him since then…!

An artist who flows through words like wind does through these leaves and rustles them and brings us joy…!

    It’s an old song but he spits in Urdu and english;

And often snaps and berates his opps when they say something wrong to him and people around him…!

    303 freestyle

  • Being minimal and still ending up with cleaning duty every other day…!

Being minimal and still ending up with cleaning duty every other day…!

    What’s your home decoration style?

    29/07/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

    Well,

I’m not that into home decor but there are certain things that I want that I will get once I get to that earning level…!

To be honest, being the only one earning in my family and spending money only on my family and essentials is something that I was taught to do…!

And when I do have some spare money or something that I can spend,

I usually buy my mom and sister something nice 😊

Because who am I without them…?

    Now about the actual decor…!

We have a combination of cream and walnut brown as a basic tone of our house…!

And we have a clean and minimal decor and none of the things you see in a fancy movie where you watch a Indian household with big chandeliers or canvases spreading along the walls or ornaments that collect dust and demand regular cleaning…!

With only three people at home I think we can avoid a lot by cutting our times which would be wasted on regular cleaning and maintenance…!

I mean you can have it however you like, but there is already a lot of clutter in our home and I feel that we have to clean it every other day…!

    But,

That cleaning and arranging it takes a lot of our free time and it makes no sense that we spend a chunk of our time here…!

    Khair

Cleaning has to happen each day anyway and we can make it interesting by listing to some music and that brings us to the song of the day…!

You know we never forget our roots and this song takes us back to our culture and brings out in a single song how panjabi’s are…! Loud AF
    Karan Aujla all the way…!

Listen to it if you have time,

    The link is just above…!

Cheers 🥂(to Karan Aujla for existing and bringing Panjabi music on top…)

  • Artists who transform lives with their penmanship…

Artists who transform lives with their penmanship…

What’s a song lyric that has stuck with you forever?

    28/07/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

If you don’t already know I listen to music and whole lot…!

Not music videos but music in the form that I have my wireless buds in my phone and I listen it to wherever I go…!

To be honest music has been one thing which has kept me sane,

And kept me alive up until this point of time…!

Imagine not having anyone to talk to and music being something that heals you and provides you with comfort that you wanted…!

Comfort that I sought from someone else when I had no one around me…!

So these songs and music became something that saved me from these disruptive thoughts and suicidal tendencies that I had some years back…!

    The real truth…!

    Khair

I’m happy, those times are a thing of the past now and I feel really happy that I didn’t give up on life,

Thanks to music and a few people around me who helped me continue this life even if they aren’t a part of my life anymore,

I am happy they chose their own life and developed into beautiful and vibrant people who I come across every now and then…!

Walked away from the prompt there, let’s circle back..!

    There is a song called

This is how it feels(feat. Superdupersultan)

The person who wrote and sang used to be called Boljani earlier but now he goes by the name Jani…!

    The song in question…!

The song(An Understatement) takes you(the listener) on a path that gives you a perspective on how sadness and loss of a loved one feels…!

I cannot point out a single line or a bar from the song but,

If you can do listen to it and tell me how it felt to you and if it was able to spark anything in you…!

    (Urdu lyrics written in Hindi)

    उदासी का घड़ा हूँ फिर आ भरो ना मुझको,

    ऐसा करो ना, के मैं फिर से किसी का ना रहूँ,

    बुलंदियों पर हूँ खड़ा, पर वह सताह ही कहु;

    Translations

I am an empty vessel of sadness, please fill me up once again,

Do something to me once again that I feel shrouded by nothingness and I lose the sense of my belonging,

Today I stand on the top but I feel like I’m troubled and tormented by your absence…!

I would love you to listen to it once and let me know “ this is how it feels” to you…!

    Cheers 🥂

  • What if other people could dream because of you…?

What if other people could dream because of you…?

    What’s your biggest dream?

    26/07/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

I really hope that all of you dream and dream bigger than what you are right now,

I hope you don’t stop dreaming ever because if you do, It closes the door that gives you a mental boost and forces you to push yourself In a direction that helps you achieve it someday…!

Everyone has some dream that we might consider common,

    A buttload of money,

    A mansion,

    Cars that they obsess over,

Or a girl that they want to marry because they love her oh so much…!

    But,

I’ve made myself to be on the path that considers these man made things a flaw that most of us believe that they should possess…

If you look at it from a wider perspective,

It shows the world how you are doing in life or how much of its material wealth you possess and people judge you on the basis of that…!

And if all of it is stripped away,

You will see those who used to eat and drink with you trickling away once they get a hint on how you are not well off now…!

An advice to all the young ones reading this,

    (I hope there are some…!)

The material wealth will come and go,

Until you dream of being someone who creates these micro dreams for others…!

Imagine being a person who employs many people and they are able to dream because of you…!

Now that is something that I dream of being…!

It could mean by employing them or treating them equal to you at all levels and even greeting someone and talking to them politely…!

It also means you harbour no bad feelings for no one and keep a clean slate when someone asks you about them…!

Let me tell you something before going…!

Only when your basic needs are met and you are confident and consistent with the efforts, you will see the fragments of your dream come true…!

If all of your time is spend surviving and working hard to scrape by,

The time to achieve your dream takes longer…!

They never fail unless your efforts to achieve them fail…!

So keep on dreaming and working hard simultaneously until you achieve your life transforms into something you saw in your dream…!

    Cheers 🥂

  • A smartwatch for my mum..!

    A smartwatch for my mum..!

What is the best purchase you have ever made?

    23/07/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

There are a few purchases that I regret making in life and think about how I could have saved money if I was sensible enough back then…!

    But,

Today’s prompt is on the contrary,

The best purchases we have made with money-

It could be your hard earned money,

or it could have been a partial payment was made by you and rest was taken up by someone,

Or you are still paying emi’s for it…!

A purchase is a good one only if you can pay it off without worrying about how you will manage the rest…!

    For me,

One of the best purchases I made for myself is the iPhone that I bought for myself,

Even if it was a second hand one, I have been using it ever since I bought it and it’s the medium that I use to connect with the world and bring you all of the posts…!

I made the payment in full and was gifted some accessories as I got it from a friend who runs a small business of selling phone accessories and it belonged to his sisters friend and they wanted to sell it because she was upgrading it..!

    Khair

I ended up with this iPhone and I’m using it each and every day since then…!

There was a different happiness as it is my first apple device and I bought it from the money I earned through hardwork…!

The best purchase that I made for my mom was a smart watch…!

She wanted to track her progress and steps but she told me that she couldn’t carry her phone with her all the time,

So it was a noise smartwatch which tracks her steps, heart rate and sleep which gives her an insight into what she is doing right or wrong…!

Oh the happiness on her face when I took it out of the box and tightened it on her wrist and paired with her phone…!

And she was overjoyed to tell me that she listened and made her first call on that watch…!

Which made me realise how fast technology has changed and one day as I was returning from work I made a call and asked her if we needed anything for home…?

she recited a list and I wrote it on my phone..!

And she was overjoyed to tell me that she picked up that call on her watch and there was so much happiness on her face I couldn’t comprehend it…!

Yes the call was a bit choppy but I couldn’t bring myself to tell her that so I kept that piece of information to myself…!

These are the two of the best purchases I made the latter one is much more close to me…!

I hope you have a good day and this read brings you some nostalgia..!

    Cheers 🥂

  • Being mis-gendered and getting a laughter out of it..!

Being mis-gendered and getting a laughter out of it..!

What’s the funniest misunderstanding you’ve ever been part of?

    22/07/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

One of the funniest misunderstanding that I was a victim of was being mis-gendered…!

She’s a fellow writer and works hard each day, managing her life while taking care of her kid…!

    But,

In her mind she already assigned me to be her female companion…! 😅

We had a conversation where she published a book and I stumbled across her Instagram page and bought one…!

And she assumed that I was a girl because my real name is something that can be used for both genders…!

    To be honest,

She told me that she has a friend whose name is the same as mine and she’s a girl…!

And she spent years with her during her college and she assumed I might be someone from just like her female friend was who she made friends with…!

    But,

At the end I made it very clear that I’m a dude who loves to write and would love to buy her newly published book which I got and read it to the last page,

And it helped me big time…!

I thought it was funny and how these simple misunderstandings can pop out of daily routine and make us remember them as funny times…!

    That being said,

I am a dude IRL and I’m fond of reading and writing if someone was unaware of the fact…!

Cheers to the funny misunderstandings that bring some laughter into our lives 🥂

  • Doomscrolling addiction and an attempt to broaden my horizon…!

Doomscrolling addiction and an attempt to broaden my horizon…!

What app eats up most of your screen time — and do you even feel bad about it?

    21/07/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

I know we are very much addicted to social media and even I am a part of the people who are addicted to it…!

My most used app is Instagram on which I find myself constantly just scrolling a dn giving myself the dopamine boost that comes from each reel…!

I know it’s not healthy and eats my already limited time,

    But,

When I don’t my day feels incomplete and I often find myself scrolling even before I go to sleep…!

    The second most used app is YouTube;

Because I listen to music a whole lot and watch content that helps me broaden my horizon which means a lot of time is also spent on YouTube…!

    Instagram eats approximately an hour forty minutes per day which caps out at least five hours a week;

Which is followed by YouTube which has around an hour and 20 minutes a day which ends up under five hour a week…!

Very much addicted but it helps me explore more and think more…!

Imagine coming across a reel that helps me explore a mindset or letting you know that is happening in the protests at jantar mantar in Delhi,

From the comfort of your own home…

    But,

It eats away at your conscience and makes you coming back for more…!

    Two sides of a coin isn’t it…?

    Cheers 🥂

  • Technologies that brought us close to each other.!

Technologies that brought us close to each other.!

Which outdated technology do you miss the most, and why?

    18/07/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

I woke up with a news today,

Mr Sonam Wangchuk who was sitting at the protest for all of students who are considered the future of our nation Was picked up by Delhi police who came in casual clothes around 7 or 7:30 this morning…!

Just because they wanted his health to not deteriorate anymore,

And Supreme Court passed a judgement that the state has a duty to preserve life of a person who is on an indefinite strike…!

This is the angle they chose,

To save the life of a citizen instead of thinking and acting on the demands that include removal of union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan,

Because of 20 neet students suicide and recurring failure and lapse in education sector and job creating sector…!

A dark day in history today…!

The outdated technologies that I miss are few but I remember them because they remind me and I guess all of us the time spent with our loved ones…!

    First would be cassettes…!

    I remember going to places with my family and we had a cassette player installed in our car and we used to listen to old songs from movies like Mughal-e-Azam;

When I was a kid I didn’t used to understand the meaning of those when I was a kid,

    But,

Now when I look back and see my father enjoying them and listening to it as a way to pass time,

I remember him happy and all of us used to enjoy them…!

Second would be the bulky tv’s

I know all of you know the tvs which were huge and had the length of an arms length and they were heavy…!

Those times are remembered because we used to sit as a family, eat dinner and enjoy the time that we had with each other at night..!

Limited were the channels but we used to watch movies together and shows which were available at that time…!

    Lastly

    Those close doored PCO booths

I know it might be too vintage for all of you,

    But I do remember going to pco to call my grandma with my mum;

Up until we didn’t have a landline at home..!

There were other things which forced my mum to not use home phone as people at home thought of it as wrong to call her mother every time…!

We used to enjoy standing in that booth and I think I saw her crying a few times in that booth,

Which caused pain but we were not aware of what was going on…!

    But,

Those technologies brought us to who we are today..!

Today I carry two phones, a laptop and many other things but the distance between us got to much broad that even with all of this connectivity we have moved far away from each other..!

    (Khair)

Call a loved one today and tell them you care and if possible check up on them on video call…!

(I know the last part is a bit far fetched but maybe drop a message first..)

    Cheers 🥂

  • The habit of going back to books that saved us…

The habit of going back to books that saved us…

Which book have you read more than any other?

    10/07/2026@Waakiye

    Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

    To be honest with all of you;

Reading Books is something that has become a rare thing for me now…!

The cycle of life and coming back from work has taken a big chunk of my time and whatever free time I do have in life,

I try to spend it with loved ones and penning things and ideas that I like…!

But nowhere that means I’ve lost the love for reading…!

It can be reading a post by my fellow writers here on WordPress too,

Because there are many who write here and they write so well that I often get inspired to write and explore a mindset that makes my writing sharp…!

There is something that I have been chipping at for the past few weeks now and this is something that has been on the list for a long time and now that I secured it,

Reading it was a dream up until I couldn’t find the book and now that I have found it, I can’t seem to get the time to go around it…!

    (Khair)

    The book in question

    Yes,

I know it’s an old book but I did want a paperback version because all of the online ones make me switch from one app to another very easy…!

So I bought this books and now it sits in my drawer until I switch my habits and actually kick off this habit of reading and getting another concept in my mind of how the lives were back then…!

    For an answer

I’ve read the prophet(standalone book) and complete works of Khalil Gibran more than a healthy person should…!

I’ve sought answers to things and behaviour of people and this is the only book that has stood by me and given me enough clarity and understanding to be the person I am today…!

I hope you do read a little bit each day if you’re trying to add reading and growing into your life…!

And I will try to get atleast a few pages in if not a whole chapter…!

    Cheers 🥂
