Time, Temptations, and the Roads We Choose…

You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?

Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

After waking up at 7:30 and wanting to stay a bit more in my bed made me realise it’s almost 8;

I got up and changed my clothes and went out on my walk after my morning routine..!

It’s currently 8:05 in the morning as I’m writing this one…!

I’m really thinking what is there to talk about and what happened yesterday…!

In the evening,

I really wanted to have a drink as I stared at those bottles for in my cabinet;

Well,

Those glass bottles remind me of happy times that I spent with people around me,

But;

They also make me realise those night I spent drinking all alone,

And drinking until I couldn’t and then going to sleep…!

Both the positives and negatives of drinking(heavy emphasis on the negatives…)

Well you’re socialising,

I know,

But it harms,

Even a drop harms when it comes to your body…!

In that case the mind wants more and more each time…!

The glass is empty and your friend’s isn’t,

He’ll pour you another one…

A dangerous cycle it becomes…!

(Khair…)

It’s better to quit when you can,

Before all of the bills pile up and you are spending your days in recovery…!

Beware it’s a habit that kills, along with smoking and those hard drugs…

Coming back to the prompt

Cross country trip and my mode of transportation…!

Well,

This prompt critically sums up a problem within that isn’t visible on the surface…

It’s your opinion on how do you value time…?

When travelling by air,

You reduce time spent travelling to mere hours or maximum of 20 hours from wherever you stand…!

And when you look at it,

You get the shortest path from one point to other…

But by traveling by air,

You cannot get to know people that you would otherwise on any other mode of transportation..!

And even if you consider the person sitting on your left , right or both if you’re sitting in the middle…!

If you’re travelling by train,

You’ll find people from all walks of life,

From bottom to upper class a mix that you won’t find anywhere…!

They travel with the same purpose of reaching from point A to point B,

And you can pay more to reach there faster,

But that is at no comparison with travelling by air as it takes significant more hours and days at a time to reach if you want to even travel within the national borders…!

Travelling by bus is a worth if you travel a lot though the night;

Because you can sit in a bus in the evening around 6 and by 6 in the morning you can travel well across national borders,

You can go one/two states over…!

Accounting in it maybe an hour or two of stopping for passengers and their wellness…!

Well at last comes travelling by car/bike

Something that I live and have immense love for…!

You can travel at your pace,

Absorbing everything that comes with it…

By meeting new people and comeing across avenues of life that weren’t possible travelling any other way…

Because if you see a picturesque scene,

You can just stop,

Jump out of your car or off your bike absorbing everything that exists and maybe take a few pictures as a keepsake…!

Also you meet people who are either going or coming back from the place that you want to go…

You can travel at your pace and return as you wish,

A drawback that it’s the slowest form of travel and takes more than hours and days, weeks if you plan on travelling cross borders(plural borders…!)

How to save travel time is essentially the question here…!

And how you value your time differs from person to person..!

If you want to travel fast and reach quicker travelling by air is you go to,

All other options are considerably less when compared to airway but with their own pros and cons…!

If I had a chance I would travel cross borders on my car,

If I can get my hands on such free and open time in my tightly packed schedule;

Along with the money to afford visas and regular maintenance of the ride and those who are tagging along with me,

My loved ones…!

Cheers 🥂

Love Waakiye 🤍
