Waakiye—A concept and a rescue set free

If you could have something named after you, what would it be?

Hey…

I hope all of you are doing well…!

It was a slow day yesterday at work,

A job that took the whole day but by the end of the day it was ready;

Which I will have to give to harderning today on my day off…!

It’s 8:18 and my day is packed to the brim…!

I have to go on shop for necessities like fruits and veggies,

Biscuits and other munchies,

Ghee and some seed oil for home…!

Other than that I have to go and make some edits to the cards and get them printed in a day or two;

Try and get a look at what we are going to give my sister in gold;

Maybe a necklace or two;

And after that;

Plan my entire evening getting information about catering, tents and internal decor for haldi, mehandi and ladies sangeet ceremony…!

Packed to the brim,

Am I not…?

Coming back to the prompt…

Something named after me…!

I’d love it if a concept or a phenomenon would be called Waakiye;

Something that stays in theory and often crosses into the practical world;

I’d love if it meant to be in a mental state of feeling that signifies being in a comfortable position,

Something like open to all the wellness and filtering out all the negativity…

I’d never want it to be a building or a road or a venue—

Because I’ve seen the type of hatred people have towards the way things are named and people move to change it ever so often…!

So,

Having a venue named after me and later changed just because a politician thinks that my name rings of a religious belief that are different from theirs;

It would be a shame to my name and my legacy if something was named once by the masses and then changed because they don’t feel I resonate with them…!

But if the name stays as a concept or a feeling;

It’s destined to stay even if I’m not…

Cheers 🥂

Love Waakiye 🤍

A squirrel that we rescued…!

I hope you do remember,

The same young dog that was carrying the pigeons that we recently rescued was chasing this baby squirrel and we rescued it from under a car that it sat patiently waiting for us…!

And after keeping it for a few days,

As it escaped from the box a few times and eating a healthy amount of seeds and drinking enough water it was ready for the free world…!

So my sister released it in the evening and it went up the tree,

Never to be found again today…!

We named him

Gillu or गिल्लू

The first few words of the hindi word

गिलहरी which directly translates to squirrel

🐿️

A close shot

Our pet, Mithu curiously looking at what we brought in this time🤨

    Dear Wakiye
    In Marathi your name means statement, wakya.
    I’m extremely thankful to you for liking, commenting my post This. I found your post better than my posts. 🌹

      I just try to write each day;

      I don’t know about it being better than anybody;

      It’s just that I want the world to be a witness to what goes on in this brain of mine each day…!

      Thank you for reading and making time to comment on this post…!

        First,
        I’m not familiar with the Marathi language so there have been a slight difference in the reply that I gave you;

        The name that I have chosen to
        Associate myself here “Waakiye”
        It broadly means a sentence or a statement in my native language and hindi too…

        And I really thank you for bringing it to my attention that it extends to the same line in Marathi too…!

        I do try to write to the best of my abilities and that is never above anyone,
        And please don’t compare your writing to anyone else’s…
        🤍🙏🏻

    Beautifully written… your thought of being remembered as a feeling rather than a name is so meaningful. “Waakiye” as a state of peace and clarity really stayed with me ✨

      Thank you Rajeshwari ji;

      It means reality and hints towards being truthful,
      Towards both the world and ourselves;

      And that is something we all should be,
      Isn’t it…?

      🤍😇
