What’s something you used to believe as a kid that seems ridiculous now?
Hey…
I hope all of you are doing well…!
Well,
when we were kids we used to believe in a lot of stuff that feels stupid whenever we think about right now…!
I used to believe that all the problems would be over once I graduated from high school or class 12; unknown to me was the fact that we were stepping into a warzone where everyone would be cutthroat and fight for jobs and things because of the limited resources that we have…!
Other than that, a friend of mine told me that he thought learning or studying would be over once he would leave school and that friend will be leaving India in a few weeks to study in a university in New Zealand…!
I thought,
Genuinely thought that people were nice, kind and did things because they wanted to and it was their characteristics;
But,
It was the polar opposite, everything starts with an intent and an end goal that they have in their mind which has to be good for them by benefiting them from it even if it comes at someone’s cost…!
When I think about my childhood or all of our childhood we had these dreams and aspirations about our future because we were somewhat sheltered from the reality and the things were deliberately hidden as to not harm our innocence,
Which we had to let go one day or another but the sooner we did it the less shocking the world became to us…!
Imagine having an idea about the world and all of it shattered once you come face to face with it…!
This one’s sad but we all hoped that our parents will live with us forever,
I know that seems sad and like a funny joke but,
That is all what we hoped to live with our parents forever and carry on this life with them…!
All of the friends that you had would stay with you forever…!
A realisation that broke us as people walked away and separated from us as they walked on their own paths which they created themselves…!
At last,
I genuinely thought we all would be happier;
Happy like we used be when we were kids and play in the streets with people who we used to call our buddies and best friends…!
This one is so crushing that it feels like happiness has been removed from our live and we become increasingly aware and normal to the atrocities that happens around us…!
Nations at war,
The unsafe conditions for the entire female gender,
And,
People committing violence against each other…!
Dreams that we had as kids…!
